“Seattleites who would never set foot in a Walmart are passionate about their love of Amazon. Ideals become easy prey when convenience is at stake. And it’s a matter of perception, too: Walmart puts its low-paid employees up front, parades their lack of dignity around for customers to see. Amazon gets to hide its poorly treated employees in warehouses, far from public view. Walmart’s cheaply made goods, all lined up and hanging on a rack, evoke the assembly lines of China. Amazon’s cheaply made goods, delivered individually in an attractive cardboard box to your door, seem like something magical; they don’t bear the fingerprints of people working for pennies a day in slave-labor conditions. All the ugliness of Amazon is behind the scenes, hidden behind a thick wall of corporate silence, and for that concealment, any number of people who consider themselves good citizens are willing to trade their loathing of Walmart for a deep and abiding love of the Great Walmart in the Sky. Turns out, that love might not be unconditional, after all.”
- Paul Constant, ‘It’s Time to Turn Your Back on Amazon’
This article says that Jeff Bezos originally wanted to call Amazon ‘relentless.com’, which…yeah.
how on earth has it taken anyone this long to stop shopping through amazon? i rankle every time i have to log in to fund a kickstarter since i know bezos’ culture-crushing ponzi scheme gets to take a cut.
reuters’ jack shafer wrote a big hand-wringing piece about how much it hurts but it’s necessary to close his amazon account. go fuck yourself, jack shafer. he links to some lady who’s been boycotting amazon because of the hatchette issue but finds it “hard” because she buys so much shit from amazon. go fuck yourself, lady.
at this point there’s so much documentation about amazon’s horrible business practices from the bottom up - how they treat publishers, yes, but how they also treat the desperate people clamouring for jobs in their basically illegal warehouses as subhuman trash – that i literally refuse to explain any further. my last amazon purchase was in 2008. trust me, you can be alive without buying all of your shit on amazon. i know, it’s hard, because you’re an enormous baby and you forget what your feet are for after taking three steps. if by some chance you’re not that, though, you’re probably a grown human adult and you probably just have so far refused to recognize that amazon is an enormous, vampiric middleman, and so you actually have no excuse for buying shit from amazon for this long except for your own lack of willpower in any field except blindness to total garbage behaviour from a faceless internet conglomerate led by a nosferatu-looking on-record asshole. grow up and go to a fucking store and talk to a human being, you insufferable shithead. jesus christ.
(side note: buy your groceries in person. don’t get food shipped to you from amazon, you google glass-wearing motherfucker. if you live in canada and yet cannot somehow extract the internet from the grocery shopping experience, which if you need a refresher simply involves exchanging money for food that keeps you alive, there’s literally a smartphone app that tells you where you can buy groceries from unionized employees. oh, you don’t want to support local unionized private sector workers? i hope your next amazon food order – which, again, christ – includes a pile of literal shit. i hope you eat shit. you’re personally responsible for killing america.)
don’t buy shit from amazon! don’t buy shit from amazon! don’t buy shit from amazon! don’t buy shit from amazon.

Casio DH-100 Midi Saxophone
this is bullshit. chris doesn’t even know the difference between a saxophone and a clarinet - he repeatedly insisted once that kenny g played the clarinet and that he was 100% sure it wasn’t a saxophone
in chris’s defense its hard to get a more clarinet lookin’ saxophone than kenny
the plot thickens
Kenny Knows Digital Horns

finally and accurate headline!
this is infowars you fuckin’ jadrools. from this very article:
California’s increasingly strict and unconstitutional gun laws have also contributed to citizens being unable to arm and defend themselves. Residents must obtain a concealed weapon license to carry outside their home or business, and those are awarded by county sheriffs on a limited basis.
"duh doy duh infowars got it right" even in the subhead it says “makes case for pro-gun advocates” and if you don’t think the immediate access any horrific asshole with disgusting retrograde views that he wants to make clear through mass murder has to fucking firearms in plenty of states is part of the problem then, well, i guess i can see why you just big-upped alex jones’ dick supplement false flag warehouse solely based their ability to tell that a man who murdered multiple women because he believed all women deserved murder was bad.
a broken clock happened to get right that elliott rodgers was an entitled rich kid, so entitled that he felt he was entitled to other people’s lives for hideously shitty reasons. he was a pig and a monster. infowars deserves no accolades for figuring this out. they’re part of the problem, dudes.
EDIT: from may 15, here’s infowars lead dude alex jones literally getting in the face of a parent of a mass shooting victim (a victim who, coincidentally, was a woman, in case you are wondering how deeply jones really cares about the female victims of male mass shooters) and threatening to beat him up, because said parent took the public political stance that maybe it should be harder to get a gun so that ladies like his daughter did not get shot to death in movie theatres.
the gun thing in the subhead is not a coincidence. infowars are using a brutal set of murders and a distressing american tragedy to push a pro-gun agenda. alex jones is the fucking enemy. damn.

our van was broken into while half our group was in a museum. all of our shit is gone… they didn’t fuck with our trailer, but everyone’s personal stuff is gone. music equipment, money, everything.
I hope whoever did this gets out of whatever desperate situation that led them to do this to us.
I also hope we can make it through the rest of tour safely and still able to take care of ourselves and each other.
Sending you love and positive vibes. This sucks and scares the crap out of me regularly (regarding tour life.)
So awful. Thinking the best thoughts for all of you.
